What is Reiki?
Rei-ki is Japanese word, (Rei) meaning "Universal Life" and (Ki) which means "Energy". It was first discovered by Dr Mikao Usui in the early 1900's and he created a system of healing utilising this energy.
How does Reiki work?
We all have an energy field that surrounds us that is linked to our thoughts, feelings and physical body. When we are balanced the energy flows freely along pathways (meridians) and centres (chakras). When we hold on to negative thoughts and feelings from past experiences, our energy does not flow freely, thus creating blockages in our energy field. Reiki healing helps clear the blockages and encourages the natural, healthy energy flow. After a treatment the vibratory level of your whole energy field will be raised.
Reiki energy is so gentle that it will flow to where the body needs it, all you need to be, is open to receive it.
Reiki treats individuals holistically, restoring balance in the body, rather than focusing on specific issues. Reiki energy naturally flows to the areas of the physical / emotional / energetic body most in need of healing.
Reiki encourages you to take responsibility for your own health and well-being. For the healing to be permanent you need to take responsibility for changing the root cause of the problems. This may involve making lifestyle changes, to support your well-being.
