The Medicine of the Blue Lotus.

I have been guided to work with the magical Blue Lotus tea and oil for a few years now. The energy of the Blue Lotus is very special; it immediately calms the mind, softens the heart, and relaxes the body. The magical properties of the Blue Lotus help us to drop deeper into the body and heart.

As we all live such busy and stressful lives, the spirit of the Blue Lotus reminds us to breathe deeply, let go fully, and reassures us that life is unfolding perfectly. It softens the parts of us that have hardened, especially the heart chamber, reminding us that healing, forgiveness, and transformation are all possible, all that is needed is our willingness to believe and receive it.

The Blue Lotus tea, when brewed, gives a beautiful pale gold, amber infusion which reflects the inner glow you will feel when you drink it. The oil works in a similar way; when anointed, you feel this special glow inside, bringing a sense of deep contentment and peace.

A flower sacred across cultures

Sacred to the ancient Egyptians, the Blue Lotus has a close relative that carries this same reverence half a world away: Nymphaea nouchali, Sri Lanka's national flower, known there as Nil Manel, a symbol of purity and enlightenment. Two waters, two cultures, the same blue bloom reminding us of the same truth.

Rising through the muddy waters.

I use this analogy a lot with my clients: the Blue Lotus has to go through much darkness and muddy waters to come to bloom. We as humans are not separate from nature; just like the Blue Lotus, we have to experience the darkness and the muddy waters to blossom. When we see the Blue Lotus, we admire the beauty but forget that it had to work really hard through many layers of darkness to come to see the light. The Blue Lotus is the mirror that reflects back to us what we need to see about ourselves — our beauty, strength, and courage a symbol of purity and enlightenment. Two waters, two cultures, the same blue bloom reminding us of the same truth.

Loving the parts we've abandoned

The Blue Lotus reminds us that self-love and appreciation are crucial for our growth and expansion. It teaches us to love the parts of us that we have rejected and abandoned. It brings harmony where there has been conflict. It teaches us to love ourselves gently, softly, and tenderly.
